Things have gone from bad to worst fot Lawernce Taylor. He was indicted on charges rape, sexually abuse, and criminal sexual act.

Pro football Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor has been indicted by a suburban New York grand jury on charges of rape, criminal sexual act and sexual abuse. The indictment Wednesday comes after his May 6 arrest at a Holiday Inn. Prosecutors say he paid a 16-year-old girl $300 to have sex with him.

The former New York Giant was also indicted on charges of endangering the welfare of a child and patronizing a prostitute.

Taylor’s longtime agent, Mark Lepselter, told ESPNNewYork.com’s Ian O’Connor that Taylor’s legal team wasn’t surprised by the timing of the indictment.

“Lawrence’s legal team made a strategic decision not to put him or any of our evidence before the grand jury, and we look forward to the legal process taking its course and allowing Lawrence to move forward with his life,” Lepselter said. Asked about Taylor’s reaction to the indictment, Lepselter said that his client was hopeful that his innocence would be proven in court.

“Obviously it’s not a pleasant day for Lawrence and his family, but LT’s had to overcome many obstacles in the past and is hopeful he’ll be able to overcome this one as well,” Lepselter said.

Xiomara Lopez, the confidential assistant to the prosecutor, told ESPNNewYork.com’s Jane McManus that the next step in the case would be a hearing. That usually happens the same day as the indictment, but she said the Rockland County District Attorney’s office is having trouble getting in touch with Taylor’s attorney.

Earlier Wednesday, former Rockland DA Kenneth Gribetz told ESPNNewYork.com that he was no longer representing Taylor and referred all questions to the DA’s office. Taylor’s lead attorney Arthur Aidala is also involved in a case currently on trial, defending William Rapetti who is accused of manslaughter due to negligence in operating a crane that toppled and killed seven people.

Lepselter said that it is expected that Taylor would appear “in court sometime in the next two weeks.”

Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe says the 16-year-old told investigators that she had been verbally threatened and physically assaulted. She said she was brought to the hotel room by a pimp later arrested by New York City police.

Taylor has denied the charges.

Michael Jordan has been called the NBA’s greatest player, a supreme competitor and top pitchman. Jordan soon could have a much different role: team owner. Charlotte coach Larry Brown said Monday night that Jordan has told him he’s doing all he can to buy majority control of the Bobcats from owner Bob Johnson.

“He said he’s doing his best to put himself in a position to get the team,” Brown said after practice. “He wants it badly.”

Johnson is eager to sell the unprofitable club, and NBA commissioner David Stern said Saturday he expects a deal to be completed within two months.

While Stern has said Jordan owning the team “would be a good thing,” he may have competition. Former Houston Rockets executive George Postolos has made inquiries, and it’s possible if Postolos gets control Jordan would no longer have a role with the team.

Jordan, currently a part owner with the final say on basketball decisions, would have to put an ownership group together and agree with Johnson on a price. Jordan declined comment Monday through a team spokesman. “I didn’t talk to him about the particulars,” Brown said of his conversation with Jordan last week. “He just told me don’t believe everything you read in the paper and I’m trying my hardest to get this thing done. I’m hopeful that at the end of the day Michael will be running the Bobcats.”

Gilbert Arenas’ legal team working on a plea deal.

Prosecutors and attorneys for Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas were in plea negotiations this week that could have Arenas in court on gun charges as soon as Thursday, according to law enforcement sources. The two sources, speaking on condition of anonymity because the talks are ongoing, stressed that the negotiations could collapse. In addition, no cases involving Arenas had been docketed in Superior Court by late Wednesday night. If the plea talks are not successful, a Superior Court grand jury would continue to hear evidence in the case.

Officials with the U.S. attorney’s office in the District declined to comment about the case. Arenas’s attorney, Kenneth L. Wainstein, also declined to comment.

The sources said it was unclear whether the plea agreement would set Arenas’s punishment as probation, community service, a fine or some combination. But the negotiations would ensure that Arenas would not go to jail, one of the sources said.

If the grand jury were to charge Arenas, he likely would face charges of carrying a handgun without a license, which is a felony and punishable by up to five years behind bars. Because he has said he had four guns in the Verizon Center locker room, he could face up to 20 years in jail.

Smart move… Taking this trial might not be a good look. Keep you head up, Arenas.

Things seem to be getting for Gilbert Arenas, as The Wizards are looking to cancel his contract for mis- conduct and bleach of contract.

The Washington Wizards have told locker room pistolero Gilbert Arenas they believe he is in violation of his contract and they have the right to void the $111 million deal sources tell TMZ.

We’re told a team official was trading text messages with Arenas after the locker room incident. Sources tell TMZ in one of the messages, the official told Arenas the team felt Agent Zero violated the clause in his contract prohibiting him from engaging in conduct detrimental to the team or the NBA and they could have the contract voided as a result.

When its rain, it pours! We hope things turn around for Arenas soon.

Gilbert Arenas has been making headlines all over the news and the sports world. Well it gets worst for Arenas as he was suspended indefinitely from The Washington Wizards organization.

NBA commissioner David Stern has sidelined Wizards star Gilbert Arenas indefinitely for bringing guns into the Wizards locker room late last month.

In announcing that he suspended Arenas Wednesday without pay, Stern said that Arenas faces a “substantial suspension and perhaps worse” when the NBA makes a definitive ruling on the matter after it completes its investigation.

Stern did not elaborate on the latter “perhaps worse” but that could potentially mean a lifetime ban for Arenas, who could have his contract, worth $96 million, for this season and over the next four seasons, voided.
 

“The possession of firearms by an NBA player in an NBA arena is a matter of the utmost concern to us,” Stern said in a statement released by the league. “I initially thought it prudent to refrain from taking immediate action because of the pendency of a criminal investigation involving the office of the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia and the Metropolitan Police Department, and the consideration of this matter by a grand jury sitting in the District of Columbia.”

Poor judgement is to blame for all of this.

Gilbert Arenas caught storing an unloaded gun in his locker.

“The Washington Wizards have learned that Gilbert Arenas stored firearms in a locked container in his locker, unloaded and without ammunition,” the Wizards’ statement read. “The Wizards organization and Arenas promptly notified the local authorities and the NBA, are cooperating fully with law enforcement during its review of this matter and will have no further comment at this time.”

According to a league source, Arenas has not been charged with a crime yet, but the District has strict gun laws that prohibit carrying guns, openly or concealed. A person close to Arenas said that he brought the guns to Verizon Center to keep them away from his children. Arenas recently welcomed his third child, Hamiley Penny, on Dec. 9 and no longer wanted them in his home. His first daughter, Izela, turned 4 on Thursday.
