Sincere ‘SPITS DA DAWN’ Pelzer was born and raised in the Castle Hill section of the Bronx. He was born into music, his father being a DJ and his mother a collector of everything from The O’Jays to Biz Markie. This exposure caused Sincere to develop a sense of personality and individuality that would continue to shape the rest of his life.
Although, his parents were not together he found the perfect balance between his father listening to anything “new and innovative” and his mothers listening to her “oldies but goodies”. This would soon help Sincere to find his own identity.
As a teenager, Sincere lost his father and found himself living with his mother off and on. Entering high school he was always able to hold his own especially in rap battles. Although this was before video cameras and internet came into play some how he was able to make a name for himself.
After realizing that using the name “Sincere” was out of the question, due to the fact that another rapper owned rights to it, Sincere eventually took on the moniker “Spits Da Dawn”. Realizing that there was no one shining bright in hip hop, he felt as though he would be the new light for the culture, in resemblance of the way the dawn lights up the night.
Shortly after losing his father, he also lost his grandmother followed by his Aunt Yvonne. As a result, Spits Da Dawn began to avoid making new friends because it seemed as if every thing or every one he ever loved, he lost. It wasn’t until him and his child hood friends Al.P and Vel black identified that they had a bond stronger than friendship that he was able to let people into his world. Yes, he lost his triangle offense but gained a triangle defense, known to the world as Kingpen City.
As Spits grew older he would soon become bored with Hip-Hop due to the abundance of self-proclaimed rappers emerging on the scene.. He put his dreams on hold for four years of his life. However, a day wouldn’t go by without Sincere bumping into a child hood friend that stated something along the lines of, “Please tell me that you are still rappin”. After awhile he began to see the impact he had on people on a small scale and was influenced to take another chance at reaching out to the masses.
Without any industry alliances Spits decided to take matters into his own hands, along with the support of his Kingpen brothers. As a result, he was able to deliver his highly anticipated debut “Quality Over Quantity”. Listeners immediately responded with praise calling QOQ classic material. He captured his listeners with the albums first track “Aries” in which he proves he can bring Hip-Hop to greater heights. Without using the cliche term “I’m bringing Hip-Hop back”.
