After four years of marriage, Singer Kelis files for divorce from Rapper Nas.
Kelis, the singer of the provocative “Milkshake” song who is seven months pregnant with rapper Nas’s son, has filed for divorce from the musician, her rep tells PEOPLE.
“We request the media to respect her privacy during this very difficult time,” the rep says. Nas, 35, andKelis, 29, met in 2002 at an MTV Video Music Awards after-party and were married in 2005 in Atlanta.
Songwriter, actor and author Ashanti will make her stage debut as Dorothy in the New York City Center Encores! Summer Stars production of The Wiz, June 12 – July 5 at New York City Center (W. 55th Street between 6th & 7th Avenues). The Wiz, the 1974 rock and soul musical based on the beloved L. Frank Baum story about Dorothy and her adventures in Oz, will be directed by Thomas Kail and choreographed by Andy Blankenbuehler, with music direction by Alex Lacamoire, (the team responsible for the Tony-winning In the Heights). A June 18th opening is planned.
Chris Brown’s Lawyer Mark Geragos wants the assault case thrown out due to the leaked picture of Rihanna.
Brown’s lawyer Mark Geragos said in court Wednesday that he wants access to an internal LAPD investigation into how the damaging photo ended up on the celebrity website TMZ.com.
The outcome of his motion could show “misconduct and or bias” on the part of investigators and lead him to ask for a mistrial, Geragos told Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg.
Sources said the leak of Rihanna’s protected police file could prove criminal and could have an impact on Brown’s ongoing plea negotiations with prosecutors. Geragos is due back in court May 28 with both sides preparing for an evidence hearing eight days after that.
